Australia's Search and Rescue region is one of the biggest in the world, covering approximately one tenth of the earth's surface. The aviation and maritime Search and Rescue Service is provided by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). AMSA operates the 24 hour Australian Search and Rescue (AusSAR) Coordination Centre in Canberra, staffed by search and rescue specialists with naval, merchant marine, air force, civil aviation or police service backgrounds.

The visit will take in the 3D Visualisation Centre and the Tsunami Early Warning System. Places are limited; however 2 tours are available, each taking approximately 1.5 hours. The first tour commences at 9.00am, with the second commencing at 10.30am.
