The Internet is increasingly becoming the primary source of information for people in both their work and at home.
To meet this trend, organisations are extending their location intelligence capabilities to the web for their own employees, customers and other stakeholders.

Australian Bureau of Statistics - CDATA Online

Overview
CDATA Online is an online tool which combines information from the 2006 Census, with web mapping capability. This free online product allows you to create tables, maps and graphs of Census characteristics for all ABS geographic areas and to create custom geographic areas. CData Online allows clients to service many of their own statistical needs for free. Previously clients needed to pay for a customised request via a consultancy service, if they required any tables or maps that were not available as standard output. Now they can create their own.

The Census Output Web Systems Census data is used to support planning, administration, policy development and evaluation activities of governments, businesses, researchers and many other users. It is also a valuable resource for anyone seeking information on the population and housing characteristics of people living in Australia on Census Night. The website allows users to select the topic they are interested in, the geographic area that they want data for including via an interactive map, and then in what format they want the data (summary, tables or maps).

Overview
eBIMAP is a subscription based web mapping service that allows public access to Councils vast array of spatial data and imagery. As the third largest local government in the world (based on area) Council has invested over $20million into spatial data over the past 15-20 years. All of this information is now available to be queried, mapped and analysed by the public at a small cost. NOTE: You can view parts of eBIMAP as an unregistered user. Simply click "register online" and then scroll down to the bottom of the screen to enter as an unregistered user.

QLD Environmental Protection Agency - EMaps

Overview
The online maps service allows the public to produce customised, high quality maps of areas via the EPA Internet site. In the past, applicants have had to contact the EPA or visit an EPA office to obtain a map. Online Maps provide the public with the same information that government uses to make decisions on applications for permits, providing further transparency about government processes. In addition to producing maps, customers can also download data for regional ecosystems from www.epa.qld.gov.au/REDATA.
QLD Environmental Protection Agency - Wetland Maps

Overview
The Queensland Wetland Programme (QWP) is a five year whole of government programme supported by the Queensland and Australian Governments. A major deliverable of this programme was the mapping of Queensland's wetlands and to make this data available to the public via an online mapping application, WetlandMaps. WetlandMaps was developed by the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency in partnership with Information Queensland.

The Arid Lands Information System (ALIS) combines three services into a single system: it allows Natural Resource Management Boards to manage and report on their spatial and textual data in an integrated system; it enables the SA Government to fulfil its statutory requirements for the management of the pastoral lease regions of the state; and it provides a web portal designed to capture, consolidate and report on rangeland assets in South Australia. Depending on their level of access, users can create, edit and save spatial and textual data in real time over the web.

NatureMap is a collaborative project with the Western Australian Museum that provide answers to the most common questions about Western Australia's biodiversity: "What is where?" and "Where is What?". NatureMap makes it easy for researchers, conservation planners, consultants and the general community to explore existing knowledge of WA's flora and fauna by warehousing information from many sources into a single, online mapping and querying website.
