A. If you're brand new to GIS, start with ArcGIS Desktop I: Getting Started with GIS. If you're new to ArcGIS, start with ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality.

Q. I have completed Introduction to ArcGIS I - which course do I do next?
A. Go straight to ArcGIS Desktop III: GIS Analysis and Workflows. There is no need to complete ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality.

Q. I can't see the course that I want in my state, where do I find it?
A. Complete our Register Interest Form to let us know what course you want run, we release a national schedule in 6 month blocks. If we have enough interest we will run a course in your state.

A. Please refer to the SSI CPD Points document.

Q. Can I use my data in the exercises?
A. Course data is matched to the exercises, you are welcome to bring your own data and use this once you have completed your exercises.

Q. Where will the Scheduled Training Courses be held?
A. All of our scheduled course are run at the local Clifton's Training Facility. Click here for more information on the Training Facilities.

Q. What is the difference between Client Site, Client Exclusive & Scheduled Training Courses?
A. Scheduled courses are run nationally, every week at our training facilities. Search for scheduled training via our online Training Calendar. Training course schedules are are released every 6 months. Client Site training courses can provide flexible training options and has the added advantage of meeting issues specific to your organisation. Client Exclusive courses are held at Cliftons and are charged back to the client. If the course is booked through ESRI Australia, the client is eligible for a 10% room hire discount. Q. What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel one of my staff off a course?
A. As per our terms and conditions:
- If you are unable to attend a course, a substitute participant may attend in your place at no extra charge. Please provide written notification.
- If you reschedule your training course date (in writing) at least ten working days prior to your original booking, no penalties will apply.
- If you reschedule your training course (in writing) less than ten working days prior to your original booking, a processing fee of $110 (incl. GST) applies.

A. One of the most difficult parts of transition to a new software product is getting a grasp of the terminology. Introduction to ArcGIS I provides a good introduction to the terminology used in ArcGIS.

Q. Does the course fee vary if I attend the course in a different state?
A. Course fees are the same if you attend the same course across the country, however you will need to arrange travel and accommodation.

Q. Do I need to bring anything to ESRI Australia training courses?
A. All material is provided at the training course.

Q. Which software version is the course based on?
A. In most cases, the most current software release will always be used on the courses.

Q. Can I get the Training materials early?
A. All training materials will be provided at the start of the course.

Q. I want to publish a map to the web, which course should I take?
A. Introduction to ArcGIS Server or Introduction to ArcIMS would be most suitable.

Q. Which level is the class software licenced at? Which extensions are enabled?
A. An ArcInfo licence with all extensions is used in our courses.

A. Programming syntax you should know includes:
- Creating variables (Dim, Private)
- Conditional testing (If? Then)
- Modules (Standard, forms)
- Looping (For, While, Until)
- Functions and procedures (Both perform actions, Functions return values)

Q. We are planning to convert our data to Geodatabases, which courses should I do?
A. Start with Building Geodatabases to get a basic level understanding of the geodatabase format and its functionality. This could be followed with Introduction to the Multi-user Geodatabase.
